Spare Tire/Wheel

Our Challenger is sitting on a karavan trailer w/ swing tongue. The current tires are Load King K550 185/80/D13. I found the matching tire/wheel combo only for $85 + shipping. Anyone have an experience with buying a spare? Is this a reasonable price?

Second where do you mount a spare on this trailer? I'm looking at the standard spare mounts, and I don't really see an area that it would fit with the tire/wheel mounted.

Thanks.
Robert.

My boat is at the dealership so I can't post a picture of it. However, I did get an angled mount from Karavan. I have it near the front. I did cover up one side decal on the trailer with it...but it looks fine. You can order it from any Karavan dealer.

I looked at the rim/tire at walmart but was unsure of the bolt pattern, I need to make a pattern of the lugs to be sure. I have seen many of them mounted flat to the bottom where the sides meet to form the drawbar, and a few on the top same location, I like the top mount so I can see the lock and hold water bottles.

bolt pattern is 5 X 4.50....As for walmart, "trailer" wheels, they only carry 12in.

$85 doesn't sound too bad, depending on their shipping cost. I paid $95 for 14" mounted on a new rim last fall. Some 'big box' stores like Wal-mart carry larger sizes than 12" but not at all locations. We have a 'Farm & Garden' chain around here which is where I bought mine but the local Wally-world had 13" here, too; just not the 14" I needed.

I bought the 'deluxe' tire mount (looks just like the one seadooya linked to) at the same place & it works great but I don't have the swing-away tongue on my trailer.

good luck! Gotta have a spare!

I am looking to get new wheels and tires. Has anyone switched from 13" to 14" wheels? I am guessing it should work fine.

Aint got the room, for 14's, bud. The fenders aren't wide enough nor is the clearance as well as moving the fender higher to work...

13's are perfect for that trailer/boat, as long as its the b78-13, other 13's are too small

14s wont fit

Glad you told us the 14 inch wheels won't fit! I was about to order some..good catch.. now what are the b78-13's ?? thanx

I went ahead and ordered those today. After I got home and looked at mine, I noticed I have 185's on there now. Since these are 175's, do you think that 10mm will make much of a difference?

I am in need of new tires and am wondering the same thing. I have 185s on mine as well and all I see on there is 175s. Load range of 1430lb to 1360lb. I know its only 70lbs but it still makes me wonder.

Walmart actually does carry tire/wheel together in the sporting goods section. 13"..67$, galvanized spoke wheel. Bolts right on. Where I got mine. Usually have better luck finding in the ones that have the auto/tire center in them.

That set off ebay works awesome and the 175 isnt a problem. I got over 500 miles on em already.

Yeah, thought of that, after posting. Out here (so-cal), no walmart has that size, just the 12's....

thank you seedooya. have been looking for a tire and mount and done some pricing to find it all over the board. bought the tire and wheel direct from Gatormade (best price and free shipping) and I got the matching wheel too. Got the mount from Harbor Freight. You guys in here a huge help finding the right stuff at the right price. thanks again!
