Solas intake grate and other mods on 2005 GTX wake 155

Just wondering if anyone is riding with the Solas intake grate on their ski? Do you like it?

I've installed the 11/19 Solas impeller and Solas grate in my 05 GTX wake along with the OPAS shims/ bushings. I've also adjusted the OPAS rudders in as tight as i can and epoxied the ride plate bolt holes. What other mods can I do for performance? "Within reason"

I went out for my first test run today and only managed 59mph... I'm in Canada and the water was about 45degF. Skis still full of winter fuel and with the cold 60deg day I'm thinking it wasn't up to optimum engine temp. The time and money I spent on parts I was really hoping for more MPH.

Any thought? Thanks

just out of curiosity what were the speeds before the mods you made?
i may be wrong but i don't think there is much more you can do performance wise for more speed as i searched myself and come up pretty much empty handed.

Thanks Coastiejoe!

Jammin777- When the ski was new I could manage 65mph low on fuel. Last summer I could do 61-62 low on fuel. I don't remember how fast when it was full but I thought it'd be more than what I got yesterday.

The other mods I know of are OPAS delete, pump nozzle shim kit and computer chip.

I concur,, GTX 155 simply can not hit that figure. 55 is realistic when all things are near perfect.

Must be speedo reading.

My 185hp 05 GTX with an external intercooler will hit 63mph on a good day, Garmin GPS and Candoo GPS module show the same speed.

Yes it's speedo readings so prob not accurate, and the most I have seen on the speedo consistently is 62mph. Maybe im getting good current or strong tail winds to help me out lol. Il see if I can get it on gps this summer when it warms up.

Is there any other good mods I can do to this thing without spending a chunk of change? Thanks

Mods on a 155 are limited with small gains for the money spent. I would just ride it, trade up to a 215, 260 or 300 model if you have the need for speed.

yip, pretty much this.

the 155 is what it is, reliable, proven, good on fuel but doesn't really have any cost effective bolt on mods that will impact performance in a noticeable way.

Best thing to do is leave it along, ride it and enjoy it, and when you are ready, upgrade.

It is called a "Dream O Meter" for a reason,,,,

Modding the 155 is doable, but very expensive for the gains. It is not unrealistic to cost a grand per 1 or 2 MPH...
