So I forgot the plugs

My wife and I were putting in, I had her get it ready while I changed, forgot to double check. The great news is it never really took on water, only had about 6 cups of water in it when we pulled out.

I'm sort of new to PWCs, is there some sort of system that empties it out, I've done this on a boat and it only takes seconds to take on water, I sat still on this for 10 mins at a time. Even with it off didn't seem to be sinking. I dried it out pretty good and have it baking in my garage today with the seat off.

But again I'm just wondering is there some sort of system to prevent flooding, I don't think I have a pump, didn't seem to be something they offered on the 2011 GTI that I knew off. Thanks for your help.

You can install a sump pump. Can even run the exit line out the side in a pisser so that you know instantly that it kicked on.

No...a sump isn't an oem item. Should be...would cost way too much.

You weren't sitting still long enough. There is an auto bailing system in the plugs...empty's the hull when you take off ect. When you become more familiar with your ski...you will notice the extra weight of water in your hull at slow speeds. If you had left the ski for any length of time..the resonator woulda filled up...as your hull would fill with water your resonator would drop below water level...esp with some wave action to help....then you have fun trying to start the ski.

Check your 0-rings on those plugs often...a cracked or missing o-ring will have the same effect.

If it happenes again... ie, remember that you forgot to put in the plugs while out on the water...simply reach back and down..put them in, then take off....your hull will be empty in a matter of seconds...or mostly empty.

The reason the ski didn't take on much water when you put it in without the drain plugs installed is because there is a check ball in each drain plug assembly that floats up and covers the hole in the event you make such a mistake. In other words, the drain plugs will let water out but not in. Unscrew the drain plug and look up inside the hole with a flashlite and you'll see the check ball. Smart thinking on SeaDoo's part when they changed to this style drain plug! :cheers:
