Just got back from the lake! Beautiful day. Lower 70's with a little wind. Cloudless sky.
Both skis ran awesome. Now for my little secret. I had never actually been on a ski until today. Bought two, made 'em run and finally got to loose my virginity! Both pulled well all the way up to around 7000 rpm. On GPS I got them up to 47 MPH. I think there was a little more speed in them, but it was a little choppy, and having about 10 minutes experience kept me from pushing too hard.
The GSX was a blast. The ski is named Lemonade. It was a lemon when I got it, but we made something pretty tasty from it! We recovered the seat last night for the great look. (thanks to LouDoo for inspiration. not quite a clone but close). New turf is already ordered. Loved the power turns. You can make that thing get loose if you try! It had a little of a starting loading issue. I think the needle and seat need to be replaced. I changed the carbs so many times trying to get it started over the winter, I am not really sure what I have in it now. It would load up a little if idling slow for a long time. Besides that, it was flawless. Got home and a new to me VTS motor was in the mailbox from Nick! Back to work...
The GTX was a dream. Easy starting, fast, stable and fun. My wife and son drove it a lot.
So all in all, a great day. Here are some pix. THANKS to everyone who helped me on these. With your help I was able to get 2 nice skis to the lake with a decent trailer for less than $3000. All gauges and systems are working once the VTS motor goes in. I will post a composite build thread for each ski. I think I did about everything you can do to these except replace the wear rings.
