Should I replace needle bearings, if so, how?

Got the impeller out, oil is black and stinky, but not milky, so no water in there. Bearings look and feel fine, but I ordered a new set before disassembly and figured I would swap them.

Should I, and if so, should I tackle this myself or take them to the shop and let them do it?

I don't have the bearing removal tool or the installation tool.

I thought along those lines...but after seeing how much salt this engine has been exposed to, I bought new bearings assuming the worst before teardown. Snipe is going to help me with the bearing swap, so I am confident I will have a good job done on them.

Putting in a new Skat-trak swirl impeller and wear ring, and figured I may as well do the bearings while I am in there.

I do understand your logic. The only reason that I would have taken a diferent aproach is because these boats will not nickel and dime you but they will $50.00 and $100.00 bill you to death and I try and save the money for a positive problem that may arise later because problems will surely come and they will not be cheap.
