Search engine?......

I'm curious as to how many members use the search engine? Do you find it useful? Does it always give you results as to what your looking for?

And the biggest question, does it even work!?.......

I have used it several times and I get a return that reads "my search has to be more than 3 words". That's after I type in, "How do you replace the wearing ring on your jet boat?"..........now, unless I'm counting in some kind of alien number system, I think I counted 11 words to that sentence.

If any others have a problem with the search engine, please let me know. I don't want to be the only one out here that can't count........:cheers:

oh yea

for me its been wonderful learned alot thats funny i was laying in bed today, Im a third shift maint. tech. and i was thinking about this site it crossed my mind that its like a neat little chat room meeting people , greeting and enjoying it. I shure do thanks:lols::agree:

I used it a lot when I first discovered this site, and found it only likes to look for one word at a time. e.g. "Utopia" or "Steering".

It was helpful though.:cheers:

"snipe ive had the same problem when doing searches", I also find that the more specific i am the harder it is to find things, but less specific the more i find but way to many things to go through. but thats why i like this site so much is cause there sooo many people willing to help each other out.

I took your advice about using one word and now, I get several hits. When I used the search engine last, I put in words to the effect, "how to replace a wearing ring". The search came back and said I needed more than 3 words. When in reality, I needed fewer.

Thanks for the insight on how to use the search engine..........I feel so dumb now after making a complaint to the administrators..........:rofl:

I find by searching in the advanced search under my name I get lots of hits on almost anything and everything I ask about...I guess I post to much and repeat my answers way too much to fellow members. I find that less info is better. I use the search engine about 40 times a week in season to find a response I posted in the past to re answer other members, when I'm not on my laptop. Works for me!

Still a glitch though, shouldnt it say you need fewer words. id say your complaint is justified, i think its good but not a great search engine.

Search engine is great but.......

Hi,
The search engine on this site is fantastic and makes it very easy to find what you are looking but is there any reason that there is a minimum characters requirement. I would like to search for "HX" so that i can read all about other peoples experiences with the same model as mine. Is there another way to search this?

Hey Matt. I agree it does need to be tinkered with. If you do find a thread that talks about the HX or whatever your looking for, look at the bottom of the page and it will have related threads more specific for what your looking for.

Replies....

These are the replies I was looking for. I thought I was the only one having a problem with it. When I'd type in, "how to replace a wearing ring", it would come back and say I had to have more than 3 words. Unless I can't count, it looks like there are 6.

I'll address this with the web master and see what can be done.:cheers:
