I have a 1996 seadoo gsx that i'm having trouble with. The problem is when you shut the ski down the starter still runs some time. I beleive i have narrowed the problem down to 2 things either the solenoid or the start stop switch. It does not do it all the time only some times. Does anyone have any experience with this type problem or any suggestions on what to do or test. Thanks for any hel

I think you are on the right track. Those start/stop switches do wear out over time.

And then as far as the solenoid is concerned, yes that is also a possiblity - check your ignition box to see the overall condition of the connectors and wiring.

do you shut the ski off with the start/stop switch? then the switch works correctly. replace the solenoid. it is cheap and the most likely culprit. another possibility is mpem itself. the start/stop goes to mpem. tells the mpem to fire the starter. unhook wire from mpem to solenoid. if it stops cranking, that is the problem. at that point, you need to decide whether to buy an mpem for a buncha money, or rig a seperate start button like pre-96 models had. would be easy. battery to start button to hot of sol. or use start button to ground other side of sol with sol hot all time.
