seadoo start up?

hi guys i just picked up a 1996 seadoo GTX before i bought it the last owner got it to beep 2 times and started it up..i cant even get it to beep once never mind twice my question is (what am i doing wrong)?:banghead:

Make sure the battery is charged, and make sure the lanyard is making good contact to the post.

the battery is brand new i get the oil light to come on as well as the guages i know i am doing something wrong just dont know what yet.
