Well, i changed my mind and Tought I should pay a little more and go for a better condition boat.

I'm going to look at this one instead

http://www.lespac.com/d-vehicules-marins-joliette-bombardier-speedster-1998-LPCaZZ21005528

or www.lespac.com and pac# 21005528

The guy told me the boat is as shiny as the picture, showroom condition. Boat has 180 hours (I'm suspicious about that) did a survey last year because insurances asked it, had to repair little de-lamination under the hull (1000$ repair), everything else is good, engines have never been rebuilt (What i want) new cover, engines have 145 or 150PSI on each one (don't remember what he told me).

Yes, it is expensive but If I compare to the boat shop

7500, let's say i deal it for 7000$, ad the taxes of 13.5% (welcome to Quebec) it's 8000$. If i deal the other one for 8500$, i've got a nicer looking boat, probably less hours, and survey is already done (what i'd have to do with the other)

But still, i'll try it on water, and I'll probably do a survey on it just to make sure the hull has been dried out before getting repaired.

I can't wait to see it, it looks SO nice. the color will also fit my pick-up truck! (ok ok, I run away)

Well it's done. I gave an cashdown for the speedster. Engines seems to run nice, no abnormal vibrations, no loose pistons, started well. Couldn't try it on water unfortunately. Boat is in a very good shape. Seats are nice, hull is nice, stickers are in good condition. I've read the survey report, there was a delaminated spot about 5 inches by 3 that has been repaired correctly according to the work report. The only thing that I'd don't like is there are about 10-15 osmosis bubbles spreaded under the hull. No big bubbles, maybe as big as the little finger max. This was written in the survey report but no mentions for repairs so I think it's minor.

One last question. Should I do repairs on the hull immediately (and by the way maybe put an Interprotect) or I can run it like that this summer and make the repairs next winter?

That EZ weed removal arm is amazing. Guy told me he was doing 57MPH with it. 60 when the hull was freshly waxed.

I'll have it in about 2-3 weeks. The boat is as nice looking in person as on pictures.

hey guys so i just spent more than a few min reading the whole convo there but personally i think u should get twin 110s and find a good deal (size color ect.) have it checked out and jump on it i know u seem a bit uneasy on fuel and every little piece i am the same way myself but when u jump in a good strong boat and throw the throttle to it u r def. going to be glad u made the choice to get the bank for the buck if u get my drift u would rather go big and go home than to go smaller and 6 mths later u realize u shoulda got more juice just my input on the matter but in the end get what u think will work best for u and your family let them have a say in what they like in boat maybe

Congrats on your purchase!!!! I love my 98. They are a great boat. Big enough for 4 people to be comfotable and they are very fast. That ones looks great by the pics. I see they added a stereo and 4 speakers, thats a great start. Let me know if you have any questions you need help with.

Nice

Nice boat! I have the 99 Speedster......so i'm a little partial, but you should not regret your choice. You'll have a blast on the lake!

Surveyor who did the survey on the speedster last july called me back yesterday. He told me he remember this particular boat he inspected because he was amazed how clean and nice this boat was. He also told me that the little osmosis spots don't need particular attention since the boat doesn't stay in the water. He told me that if the boat was still as nice as it was when he inspected it i made a very good choice. It was one on the nicest speedster that he have inspected (of this year range). I should be able to get it this weekend or in the middle of next week. I'll post a few pictures here.

Now the waiting game is killing me!

Picked it up today and went straight to the river to try this thing.

It is simply amazing.

Since it didn't get in water since last summer, i've let it idle a good 5 minutes, then i ran @ 3000RPM for a good 2 minutes, then i cruised @ 30mph another good 10-15 minutes. Then I opened it up. That thing is a huge blast. Take off is a little slow but once it reach 15MPH it's like a sling shot.

3 people onboard I got 55MPH on rough water, 52 comming back (with water current)

Boat is very quiet, even at full throttle. Ride is quite smooth, seats are really comfortable.

BTW, 2 engine start and 2 gas control just gives you a nice feeling of powahhhhh! lol.

Awesome boat, I can't wait to get back to the river. I just hope i won't get any breakdown during season.

See, told you that you would love it. They are a blast. Try playing with the 2 throttles while going into turns. You can steer the boat quite well that way.

I discovered today that 1 engine has been rebuilted (right one) Cylinder on magneto side is a different color than the other. It still runs great but I'll check the spark plugs to make sure problem has been solved before the engine has been rebuilted.

There are also 2 plugs (perko) near the hull vents under the engine cover, are they flush plugs for a garden hose? Can I run the engines with them?

There's also a switch with a fuel pump on it in the dashboard, what's it for?

I'm not sure which plugs you are talking about. Can you include picture? The switch on the dashboard will silence the low fuel alarm. Mine seems to go off when I still have 12 to 15 gallons left. Kinda annoying its so sensitive. When it goes off push the switch and it will silence it.

It's hard to tell, the plugs are just under the red latch, next to the air breather. It's written PERKO on it and If i unscrew the cap, the size and thread looks like i can screw in a Garden hose. There are one of those on each side of the engine bay

Everything I have seen from perko is electrical...so im kinda confused. Are you talking on the inside of the rear storage compartmment. Next to what looks like a vent. On the sides? If so that is a flush port but im not exactly sure how to use that one. Most people use the flush ports on the back of the boat. Underneath the swim platform, up above the where the water dischage is, you will see a flush port on each side. I can try to post some pics if you need help.

Some pictures of the beast. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day today.

Lol, and i was concerned about the fuel!

I did a BAD ride this week, 1/2 an hour and i burned about 9 gallons, lol. But what a ride, and what a machine it is. The boat thew me out of my seat (180 degrees @ WOT = HOLD ON!)

I still love it, best boat i couldn't imagine. Fuel consumption doesn't matter when the fun is there.

did a compression test this weekend, 150 150 for port side, 155 155 for starboard side (engine that has been rebuilted) I changed the oil in the stators (rebuild engine had water in oil because stupid dealer didn't put sealant on the hex bolt... Good thing i still had Quicksilver's perfect seal that i had bought for my sportjet. I think it'll do fine.

Checked the clearance for both pumps and it's about .017 -.020, spot on.

I was wondering if you guys have some cavitation when you floor the throttle? let's say i'm not moving, i hit WOT, then the engines revs 7000RPM and 1-2 seconds later it's going. there's always a slight delay when i floor them when not moving or moving slowly and i was wondering if it's normal. I think it is since now i'm confirmed that my pumps have good clearance but I'd like to be 100% sure.
