My machine has about 110 hours on it and has been maintained annually. I've owned it for about 5 of those years so not sure of prior history.
The dealer performed the annual maintenance on it and this weekend put it in the water for its first run this year. the first 2 or three miles top speed was close to normal but the motor sounded lethargic and RPMs weren't maxing out. I took it for another run (thinking maybe a fuel issue) after filling with premium fuel and some stabilizer, and this time the RPM's wouldn't go over 5650 and speed maximums of 38 mph. A phone call to the dealer suggests it could be the engine going, as two strokes are appparently notorious for not lasting much more than 10 years even with good preventative maintenance, which ours had during the time I've owned it.

What could be the cause of this power loss? If it's fuel, would these symptoms dissappear if kept running it for one tank full and would i damage the engine? If its a worn cylinder, what are teh symptoms?

I'd appreciate any advice given!

If it was mine I would dirst do a preasure test on the cylindars, and if it looked good I would put a carb kit in the thing and call it good.....
