I thought buds was only available to dealers and even if you get a copy, BRP releases updates. If you're not a dealer, no update, which could possibly affect its' use.

i just bought the candoo and am going to hook it up to the skis tonight. (i have a DI, so i needed it)

How did it go bowlerx? Any suggestions for first use? I should be receiving mine by the end of the week.

so sorry! i havent been on the site in a little bit.

it's actually pretty cool. it lets you diagnose all sorts of stuff and test functions of your ski as well. clearing codes is a breeze and if you start it plugged in, you have a bunch of different gauges to monitor the ski.

well worth the investment.

I was looking into getting one of these for my two GTX's . Question, its my understanding the can-doo only supports two skies. If I sell my two skies later can I bump the two old ID's assigned to the old skies and use them on the two of whoever I purchase ?

i believe it comes with 4 licenses IIRC. each Seadoo is a license. so, if you use 2, you still have 2 left. however, you can buy additional licenses. i believe they are $99 per.

do it. you wont regret it. i just diagnosed my DI. if a DI can be diagnosed by this, it is beyond worth it.

I have one and have used it on all of my 2 Seadoo's and Challenger Twin engine. That used up my 4 licenses that are included. You get frequent updates with Candoo and does most of what a BUDS will do at a much lower cost and less complicated to use. The only thing I believe it can't do is flash the IBR Module if you replace it. Other than that, it shows and controls a lot of stuff on your ride.

I just installed an OEM depth finder on my 2007 Challenger 180 (non-SE), and the installation requires changing a computer setting to display the depth reading on the OEM gauges.

Candoo was not able to change the settings to recognize an OEM depth finder, but BUDS was able to make the change. The two tools looked very similar except for the "Depth Finder" checkbox at the bottom of the settings tab on BUDS and not on Candoo.

Pretty impressive tool though. Candoo was able to check/clear engine codes, display engine runtime/rpm in chart form, add a DESS key, etc. It even found a code from me turning over the engine with the spark plugs disconnected during an oil change.

HDxl1200r, do you have both tools? BUDS and the Candoopro? If so, how were you able to get the Buds and does it come unlimited? The reason I ask is because I found some for sale on Amazon but they are out of Europe and I was afraid of getting hung out to dry on licensing restrictions.

I do not own either tool. There is a certified Seadoo dealer near me that uses Buds. There is an independent jet ski repair shop near me that uses Candoo. Both dealers were happy to give me a quick tour of their software, and overall the tools seemed almost identical except for the depth finder setting I mentioned above.
