Alright, My name Is Brett, and I am fairly new to sea doo's. But, I have been around boats my whole life. I am looking into purchasing a 2003 or 2004 sea doo xp-di. From what i have read they have a fairly powerful engine, and a maneuverable hull. The thing I really want to know is; are they reliable, do they break down often? I understand some maintenance happens, and is to be expected. I just don't want to buy one and figure out it is more of a money pit than could be expected. I am asking this only because they are really hard to find, and at the lake I go to in southern Illinois, I haven't seen an XP in years. Also, How many hours is considered "high" on a seadoo.

any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Keyword.......DI (direct injected)

The keyword here is "DI". This model is the most un-reliable PWC I've seen in the forum. It seems, that owners that have them, that work, like them. They are tried and true for their purpose. But if you go through this forum, looking at all the troubleshooting that has been done for this ski, you'll see the DI motor is a hard to trouble shoot engine.

The reason is it uses an air compressor to inject the fuel to the high pressure side of the compression stroke and it also uses that same compressor for the RAVE valve operation. If one of these lines gets a leak or doesn't operate correctly, the RAVE valves will cause the engine to have very low performance.

These are only my opinions based on troubleshooting in the forum for over the last year with the DI motors..............
