I have a sea doo xp bomberdier. New Battery installed today. The motor will not spin over like it has too much compression. I removed the plugs....spins like a top. Plugss reinstalled....will not spin over at all. Worked fine at the end of last yr. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen people use to much fogging oil when winterizing and not be able to turn their motor over come the riding season. Did a lot of oil shoot out of the plugs when you cranked the motor over? Did you charge the new battery before installing?

I bought a new battery for it. Same as was in it. Alittle oil came out but I would not say it was excessive.

I even tried to use jumper cables to no avail... I didn't know if there was some kind of compression release or if my starter may be going bad.

If it sounds like it's turning the motor over well without the plugs your starter motor is probably ok. The starter either works, or doesn't work in most situations. Unscrew the plugs a few turns and see if it will crank and fire up and burn some of that oil out of the cylinders. It sounds like you have excess oil in the cylinders. Don't run it too long.

You either have a bad starter or bad cables bad connections. A bad starter can drag when there's a load on it.

this should work

Take the two hoses off the oil tank going to the motor. from the oil tank not motor side. Put one one hose in a can. put pressed air to the other one. Oil will pour into the can. This will empty the too much oil in the bottom of you motor.put the hoses back onto you oil tank. put oil into it and it will fire. Put a channel locks on the lower hose going to the motor only when you storeing it.Your crankshaft seal are weeping one this should get you thorough the season at least.

Check all the cables for corrosion and make sure they are cleaned and TIGHT. It takes a lot of amperage to push that starter to get the engine to turn over, and if the connections are loose or dirty then you don't get 100% current flow and under a load it'll do nothing. Actually, the cables will probably heat up too. Make sure all grounds are good too.

Also, I wouldn't try starting or running an engine with loose spark plugs. The power of compression on a loose plug will cause it to shoot out like a bullet! When this happens say good bye to the plug threads (head side) and perhaps an eye or anything hanging on the wall near by. My relatives once put a hole threw an outboard motor housing because they cross threaded the plug. Neighbour did the same with his car and the hood.

Cheers!
