Hello all. I have sucked up the hose while trying to freshwater flush my 1990 gt sea doo. It had no propulsion on my next outing. It runs fine, but has a higher rpm sound - perhaps no impeller movement. Is it possible that the shaft has been ground down. Thanks, Kevin

Your shaft is probably fine. How did you suck up the water hose? Take a look at your impeller and wear ring. To check clearance from venturi side, remove
venturi/nozzle assembly. Use a feeler gauge, measure clearance between impeller blade tip and wear ring. Measure each blade at its center. Clearance should not exceed 1.0 mm (.040 in). If clearance is greater, disassemble jet pump and replace wear ring. Also if check if blade tips are blunted round, chipped or bent. If it is, it will be unbalanced and will vibrate and damage wear ring, impeller shaft, shaft seal or bearings.

hosed

The hose was placed too far into the intake port during flushing. The hose wrapped around the shaft. At the first sound of trouble the engine was shut down. The hose was later freed with plyers. The hose had a cut in it from where it extended to impeller. The impeller would always vibrate a little at low idle. After the incident the vibration sound was louder - at home. The jetski was put into the water and run for 5 minutes. No problem until a second person got on and we taxied out to the ocean. Halfway there, a higher rmp sound was made. Then, there was also no propulsion. We have it home now and have loosened and retightened the pump housing. It sounds and runs fine now - at home, but is not under water pressure. Thanks for replying..... Kevin
