Hi!

The speedometer on my rxdi -01 does not work on the digital or analog gauge. So I guess it's the speed sensor that's broken.

The paddle spins freely.

Is it possible to use the speed sensor from my xpl -98 (2 wires) on my rxdi -01 (3 wires)?

Is there any difference between them other than that the rxdi have built in thermometer?

if one has 3 wires and the other has 2 I would say no it will not work. If you become a premium member you can gain access to the manuals and view it for yourself.

Yes it will work the extra wire is just for the thermometer. Most sensors will have 3 wires to but only uses 2. Be sure you check the color code from the old unit when hooking up the spedo, because I don't have my manual available for correct ones to use. Leave the odd wire un plugged.

Use an ohm meter on 2 of the wires and spin the wheel. When the Resistance goes up or down you have the proper 2 wires.

Karl, It will not directly plug in though right?

Karl is correct, the 2 wire speed sensor will work on your 3 wire system. The puple/yellow wire is the speed signal, the black is the ground, and the tan/orange is the water temp signal. you'll need a terminal tool to remove the terminals from the connector housing from both machines and just reuse the 3 wire connector and leave a dummy wire in the connector to keep water out. Of course, you will lose your lake temp reading.

Yes, ignore my post, I sometimes do not say what I am exactly thinking....I was speaking in terms of plug and play operation......

Ok, thanks.

Do you know wich wire on the 2 wire speed sensor is the signal?

I think it is in the answer....

It is the purple/yellow wire, not purple/black. My brain goes faster than my fingers. I'll edit the post above.

Changed the sensor last night, works great.
But it was a little bit tricky without the terminal remover tool.

Thanks for all the help guys, you are the best!
