rust stain removal??

Starting fluid takes rust off of chrome real good, but dont use the s.o.s. pad on the chrome (it will leave small scratches). Dont let the fluid sit on the gelcoat to long, spray it on & wipe it off. As long as it's on the textured part of the gelcoat (the floor) using a sos pad LIGHTY wont dull the gelcoat to much, if it does just wet sand the area with 2000 grit sand paper.

I hate to say it... but once rust works it's way into the gel... it's not coming out.

When I rebuilt the boat in my avatar... there was water sitting in it for a long time, with a few metal things making rusty water. After lightly sanding the surface off, and buffing it back to a shine, soaking it in CLR, letting a paste of "Oxi-Clean" sit on it, and spraying on straight bleach... I gave up on removing the stain, and I put Hydro-Turf on it to hide the stains.

With the above cleaning... the stain was minimized... but it was still there. I don't mean to be a cloud on your bright day... but I spent a week on one stain with out full removal.

So it might be easier if I threw a couple thousand nails in it fill it up with water and let it sit overnight so in the morning I will have a nice brown floor?!:hurray: At least it would match!

I had a feeling this stain was going to be there forever!
