Ring gear

Or someone may have used the wrong supercharger gear. This is what will happen when you use a 185hp gear on a 215hp flywheel, or vice versa. The gears are not interchangeable, one has one more tooth than the other and they won't mate properly.

The back row of the flywheel is for the starter gear. The front row is for the supercharger gear.

On the supercharger, the 215 has 16 teeth and the 185 has 17 teeth. On the flywheel, the 185 has 86 teeth and the 215 has 87 teeth.

Can’t find either one of these in the shop manual what are they called and what’s the propose the plastic peice I know snaps onto front of camshaft sprocket and has lines marking top dead center for timing the big flat washer was between the plastic peice and sprocket just flopping around in the loose I doubt that that is how it’s suppose to be seeing how that peice spins quite fast. Just curious if I maybe missing something? Thanks in advance.

They are part of the TOPS system. There is a seal on the TOPS valve that presses against the metal plate which sits inside the plastic part.

Yes, I normally stuff a rag against it to hold it in place until I bolt the TOPS valve on. It can easily fall out of place and go down in the bottom of the PTO housing which will ruin your day.
