Estimate less than 25 hrs on it. Bent the rear drive shaft years ago when a tow rope got sucked up. Sat for nearly 10 years in shelter. It was winterized and engine fogged but got water in the hull once for a few days when it rained before moving to shelter. Gas tank is empty or nearly empty. Oil tank is nearly full of old oil.

Finally got around tuit, spurred by my grandson:
Found and downloaded the 2005 Vehicle Shop Manual, 2 Stroke Models
Found bad starter relay in initial testing. Ordered one and several parts for rear shaft replace, carbon ring kit, etc., and fuel pump rebuild kit, anticipating it might be bad.

Have only replaced starter relay so far. Made up cables to a temporary external deep cycle battery.
Have not pulled fuel pump assy.

Status:
  • I have not added fuel nor removed any (but tank sounds empty or nearly empty when ski is shook with cap off)
  • Installed in new starter relay.
  • When DESS cap installed: Everything seems normal except check engine light is on - not sure if that is OK since we have been futzing with the starter relay: Two beeps immediately, check engine light immediately and stays on, 4 beeps every several seconds.
  • When starter button engaged, engine turns over.
  • (Cannot hear fuel pump running - but don't remember if I could hear it before. According to manual, fuel pump should run 2 seconds upon DESS plug-in).
Next planned steps:
  • Check fuel pump voltage on DESS cap install - look for 2 sec ON pulse.
  • If that is good, figure out if fuel pump is running using direct wire procedure in shop manual. If not, check power going to it and follow shop manual
  • from there If fuel pump is powered but not running, replace it, fuel sock, clean out tank, etc.
  • If fuel pump is running, Disconnect line and use it to suck any remaining old gas out of fuel tank into a discard container, if any.
  • Put in fresh gas.
  • Change in-line oil filter
  • Try and start it. (Is multi-year old oil in the tank good?)
  • If it starts, shut off immediately and move outside and hook up cooling water. Then proceed to start and run to check more extended running.
Need input on other suggested, likely broken stuff after years of sitting. Experience with other motors says carb is likely fuel injectors might be plugged up, but maybe not. What about the RAVE valves?

Note im trying to avoid ordering the $550 CanDoo BRP analyzer.

With 10 year old fuel your best bet would be to clean out the tank and change the two fuel filters. You risk damaging the pump and injectors if you don’t.
