Revisit- how does fuel get to the engine 98 GS

Nate and all who helped me get this done. Last post was that engine would run at high rpm but not idle or run at part throttle.
When I overhauled the carb there was no mention of removing the jets. I did not do that but it hit me this morning right out of bed that the problem was that jet. Removed the carb again and got the jets removed. High speed was good but could not see through low speed. Manual calls this the primary jet. I used a needle to gently clear the hole and then cleaned with carb cleaner. When I got it all back together it runs fine. I hooked up hose and let it idle for a minute or two and also punched the throttle a time or two and all is well. I may try to get it to the lake on Monday for a test on the water. This late in the season I hope there will be someone around to save me if it dies in the middle of the lake again. Wish me luck.

Keep us posted on your progress. It isn't recommended that you use anything to "poke" any Jet in the carb., just use compressed air and carb cleaner.

Thanks for reply. Engine will idle and rev up now but it backfires through the carb and so I am at a loss again. More forum reading and questions coming I suppose. It was backfiring before at high rpms when it would not run at all at low rpms or partial throttle. I had hoped that would resolve with finding the problem at low speeds but it did not....ron
