Reverse cable bellows

The reverse cable on my 2002 Challenger 2000 just broke this week, and managed to perforate the external bellows as well. I happen to have a spare steering cable bellows lying around (accidentally ordered 2 when I did that job last year) and was trying to figure out if I could use the steering cable version on the reverse cable. The steering cable version has a threaded fitting inserted into the aft end of the bellows, but otherwise they appear pretty much identical. Not sure how that fitting is held in, i.e. whether it is glued or not, which might make a big difference in how easy it might be to remove it without damaging the rubber. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

I think bellows that I ordered online from a place Tony recommended, the part is exactly the same for both (if I recall correctly). I believe they are both held on with plastic clamps. I think you could substitute plastic zip ties if you break the original clamps.

The bellows themselves are the same, but the one on the steering cable has a threaded fitting on the aft end, which is different from the version on the reverse cable. Wouldn't be able to use the one from the steering able without removing that fitting. I have a used steering cable bellows (wrecked) that I am going to experiment on.

Yes, you have that exactly right. The steering cable end has a long threaded end (used to adjust the steering nozzle to be square when steering wheel is straight). This threaded end comes off quite easily, however the key is before you take the 2nd nut off off... "count" the number of threads that it is from the end... So that you can put it back exactly the way it was when you took it off.
