Replacement engine

I have only removed a 951 from a sportster LE, but I did it with basic hand tools and a chain hoist. Once you remove the engine and start stripping down the accessories, you may find that depending on your re-builder you may have to remove the PTO. If so that will require a special puller. The rebuilder I used (S.E.S.) removed and reinstalled for me.

When you go to reinstall your engine you should get your hands on the engine alignment tool. You can buy or rent from S.B.T. http://www.shopsbt.com/jetski/sea-doo-alignment-tool-xp-gt-gtx-xp-spx-explorer.html.

I chose to buy the tool as I did not want to deal with return shipping (expensive) and a time line. If you plan on only using once it may be a deal, but I am sure I will remove my engine or replace mounts for some reason in the future. You can try to eyeball the alignment, but after I replaced and re-shimmed two mounts and eyeballed I found I was still far enough off of alignment with the tool that I would have created drive shaft or pump damage.
