OK I replaced the fuel baffle on my 95 GTX and the gas gauge is still not registering? I purchased it from a reputable mechanic? Any ideas on what else the issue may be? Or is it always the F1 fuse in baffle?

When I put the key in the gauge registers.... in other words all lights light up and fuel gauge shows full.... then it goes to no fuel and gas light is on.

The usual problem is the fuel float, does your baffle have the new style white molded float?

Check the pickup for ohms and see if it gives you a number...if it does its either the float or the gauge.

I have found that the fuse can be damaged in shipping fairly easy.

Jump the two pink wires on the gauge side and it should read full if your gauge is working.

Ok looks like it is the float.... I check ohms with 3/4 tank and it read 88.6. I have a new float coming. Wish I would have seen Leary's post earlier.

If you have 0 ohms and your gauge is reading empty, then your gauge is bad not you're float.

You should always check the gauge first since it is a two minute check.

You're on the right track but I have seen both the baffle and gauge bad several times.

Being he said that the gauge shows the bars and then goes to empty with the light on, this should mean the gauge is working and the problem lies with the sending unit or the float. If no bars light up on it when the key is on initially, I would be looking at the gauge first...

I figured as much... waiting for the float to arrived that I ordered.

You can check the float easily as well. Get a cup of water or gas and put the float in it and see if it floats easily. It may float for a few seconds if it has been out of the fuel and has evaporated but give it a minute and if it sinks, you know it is the float or at least one of the issues! I replaced my float last year and took care of the problem for the season. At the start f this season, something went wrong with the board or a connection in the sending unit as it would work and than show empty and than the next day it would work. Being I had the tank out twice last year to diagnose and than to replace the float when it came in the mail, I was not going to try to fix again and just bought a new fuel float assembly this season.
