my 92 xp just recently took on some water....cleaned and dried it all out and runs fine. Problem is when I start it, the charge is only running in the low 12's. I took a multimeter to the rectifier wires and got resistance in the red and yellow. Can a rectifier be bad yet show some ohms reading in the wires? Is it a bad rectifier if its a low charge or only if it goes above 15? are there any other tests to try to pinpoint what's happening? thanks

p.s. i have the manual but sometimes theres easier ways than doing it how the manual says too.

it is possible the water got in the front of engine. magneto and flywheel area. could have (will) mess with the stator. pull front cover and see if any comes out, or if looks wet in there.
