Recommended battery size/CCA?

I too have read of excess carbon buildup on the RAVE valve wrecking pistons, thus periodic cleaning is recommended. Taking a look at them would eliminate that factor.
I am a new owner of a 96xp myself. Mine is sidelined with a leaking base gasket. In spite of having done numerous rebuilds on cars and Harleys, including performance modifications, I swallowed my pride and had the dealer do it. When running right these things are fast and corner unbelievability hard. I look forward to getting mine back and hitting the lake Wednesday or Thursday.

Is the battery fully charged? Even though new sometimes they only come 70 to 80 %out of the box.

I just checked that again last night and no it wasn't fully charged. Tender is green this morning, I'm gonna try it as soon as coffee is down the hatch!

Soooooo, green tender and same results. It does that "half crank" and stops... Seadoo mechanic or for sale next move....

P.s. Rave's were beautiful...

Is this a brand new build? Meaning the carbs have been apart, new wear ring, and hasn't been started since? If so I ran into this problem myself. At best I could get mine to turn over 2 times. Pull the plugs out and it'd turn all day. Sprayed some water into the pump to give the prop so lube to turn.....bam fired right up. I had a primer which helped it run for a few before the fuel could get through the system.

Its all i use now.

A few things to consider.

1 battery needs to be very strong for this motor. 260cca minimum.
2 is it a new oem starter or crapy chineese starter?
3 start suspecting the cables or terminal ends!
4 measure battery voltage while cranking with the plugs in.
5 measure between the bat positive and positive on the starter while cranking with plugs in
6 measure between bat negative and engine ground while cranking with plugs in

Report back.

Exact same symptoms, and that's the one thing I haven't tried yet is starting it in the water... I will give it a go next weekend since I left the pair in the storage yard for the week.... I will follow up then. Battery on maintainer until then as well....

I checked all these and everything is good and where it should be, battery drawl is normal, all terminals landed, plug wires snipped and spark tested.... Starter is oem as well... Will report next weekend with wet start results....
