i have a6 xp and put a new rectifier on . before it was reading 12.50v
put the rec on and volts jumped to 13.50 took to lake rode great .It sat for about and hour and the battery was dead . please help

Charge battery and recheck.....

It sounds like you may have a dead battery.

When you put on that new rectifier, it should have read close to 14vdc if not just over. With it reading 13.5, that means it was using a lot of power, sending it to the battery.

So, start it back up and check your voltage again. Make sure your rectifier is working, then go get your battery tested.

how do i check rectifier

Start engine. Connect a multimeter to battery posts. Set multimeter
to Vdc scale. Bring engine to approximately 5500 RPM.

If multimeter reads over 15 volts, regulator is defective.
Replace it.
