I am in the process of doing a rebuild for a 787 RFI and have seen some posts to replace the oil and gas lines prior to break-in. Is this necessary? Also, I am in need of 8 exhaust manifold bolts (missing when I bought the ski) any idea where I can acquire?
PS - I am a newbie but have learned a wealth of information from this site in just 5 days since joining!

You don't have to change the oil hoses, if they are in good condition. BUT... since you are in there... it's not that hard. Then you will know if the oil system is working, and it's one less thing to worry about later.

But do this... grab the small hoses, and give them a good twist, and pull. (don't go easy on them) When they get old, they will decay, and rip easy. If there is no sign that they are going to fail... then it's up to you.

Personally... if I was putting in a new engine... I would replace the filter, and the small hoses.

Thanks for the quick response. It appears that the hoses are the type I should be able to acquire at a local auto store.

Dr Honda, I watched your post on wear ring replaced - well done. I have inspected my ring and appears to be in good shape but the rubber lip is somewhat smashed on the lower side. Should I replace? Also, should there be some lateral play in the shaft?
PS - saw you had some heavy rain yesterday in PA.
Thanks.

Yep... it was ugly here. Lot's of flooding.

The drive shaft floats. SO... yes... there will be some movement.

Since the rubber lip is smashed (normal) you need to make sure it seals. SO... put a neoprene seal on the hull side. That will give the pump something to seal on.

I notice that when I pulled the jet pump that there was not neoprene seal attached...will purcdhase one before I install. In regards to parts, should I stick with OEM parts? My research shows that Seadoo Wharehouse is a place to find OEM. Any other suggestions on where to find parts?

I'm split on OEM and aftermarket. Generally... Carb parts, carbon seals, and wear rings... I always use OEM. Anything else can be aftermarket.
