Hey so I’m going to need to replace both of my 787 motors. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do it and if u have anyone you guys trust for buying them from. Both motors the casing where the counter balance blew out so I can see the counter balance completly exposed.

I seen your other post, strange that both motors came apart? Might make sure your oil is getting to the two fittings at the bottom of the motors. I got Long blocks from somebody on here who sells on eBay I’ll have to look it up, but probly be money ahead if you find some core cases

Yea this is unreal. Since I’m new to the boating lifestyle it’s crazy to c both motors blow the casing in the same spot. Now I’ve got to figure this all out. So far I found casing for 150$

I'm guessing that the previous owner left the plugs out or let it sit out in the rain with plugs in and swamped the engines. Even if he got them running water can sit in the counterbalance shaft and rust out the bearings. They'll usually run for a short time after that before exploding the cases.

Looking at your pics in the other post, you can clearly see rust on the counterbalance gears. I'm betting if you pull the bottom ends that both cranks are rusty as well.

Guy told me he had it stored in a indoor storage facility. But who knows if that’s true or not. So what do u all recommend for motor rebuild?

There are a lot of different opinions on the major rebuilders. If you are fairly mechanical I'd send the top ends off to full bore online, then get rebuilt cranks and counterbalance shafts and assemble yourself.

Fullbore also does full rebuilds but they are pricey. I've had good luck with SES also for full rebuilds. I'd stay away from SBT. Anyone besides SBT you probably won't get the engines back for 3-5 months after sending them in though.

Wow 3-5 month without using Boat that’s terrible!!! I did speak with fullbore today and pricing without casing is anywhere from 1050-1750$ I would have to get 2 new casings. And time frame was anywhere from 1 month to 3 months

Has anyone had any experience with “Miami jet ski shop”? I see there ads all the time on my FB wall for a group I follow. I called them today and guy was really nice and told me he could rebuild me 2 motors in about 3-4 days with 6 month warrenty for 1100$ each. And if I let a guy they recommend uninstall/install for 600$ each I will get 1 year warrenty instead. I was told they have the casings in stock so they could start building them fairly quick that I could more then likely be on the water for next weekend if all the stars align properly. So if anyone has any thoughts please share

Also since engines will be out it’s a great time to repair the leak in the exhaust pipes that I repaired with JB weld. Now should I just take to a welder to have the fill it in and weld or is there any special thing I should ask for them to do?

Never heard of Miami jet ski shop so can't speak to that. As for the pipes yes you need to take them to a welder. I ground all 4 off myself of each pipe and had aluminum blanks made and was still charged $165 to have mine welded. I have pics in my speedster resto thread.
