Re use rotary valve Seal?

I am rebuilding my 720 and am wondering if I can reuse the rotary valve seal if I remove the shaft to clean the case. There is nothing wrong with the gear etc. put I think it might harm the seal if I get solvent on the seal while cleaning the case so am considering removing it. Thoughts?

If you are that far in just do it correctly and put a new seal in.
