Rave valve stuck in it's hole.

LOL. Been so busy with other crap forgot all about this. LOL. I'm not bitching. Just can't believe how or why this happened. I took it all apart. Removed the "cylinder" not head. I haven't found a machinist yet to take it to. Is it aluminum? I've been told that it takes a lot of heat to work with aluminum. Should I call someone around me that works on Seadoos and see who they use around me? The only hard part is the bolts were a little stuck. I had an Impact that got them out ok.

I'm really not trying to sound like a bitch. It's been a real bad time around here for me and my family. Not having a job and everything that has happened to us this past 6 months is really trying on me. Just one thing after another and its starting to add up. Give me a break. I could bitch about it but I don't. Having to move and give up my vehicle cause we can't afford it anymore has but a knife in my back. All I can say is vote that idiot out of the white house so things can get better.

I'm not selling it. LOL. I had to use a dent puller to get it out. When I tried to insert the rave valve back into the head it still won't go in all the way like the other one. I was looking at all of the bolts that hold the top plate on. I happened to drop one in the hull and was using a magnet to try and get it out. Little did I know that they are not iron. So, I was playing with all of the bolts and one didn't look the same as the rest. It was staying magnetized to the magnet. Weird huh? So I started comparing its size with the rest. It's about 1.5 inches longer or so. Maybe less but it is longer than the rest. So, that tells me the rave hasn't been working since I bought the thing cause someone put the wrong bolt in. All the luck in the world I have don't I?!.
So, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to remove that head and either take it to be machined or find a used one cheap. I don't know if it can be fixed. Looks like that bolt above the rave valve cavity is where the long one was to cause this kinda damage. I'm lucky it didn't destroy the whole engine. I lubed it up real good. From the carbs and the spark plug holes. I turned it over and it looks ok. I put the top plate back on with old gasket just to keep it kinda air tight for now. I hope this is an easy fix.

are you sure you didnt' just bend the rave valve and thats why it won't go back in? i'm in houston i'll buy it off you cheap if you want to unload it.

I do not want to sell it. I miked and cheked it against the other rave valve. It's ok. It is not the problem. I'm sure that the cylinder is messed up. I just noticed Chester's post. That is what I'm doing If I can find a reliable machinist. That is the hard part here in my neck of the woods.

I forgot all about this thread. LMAO. I'm not upset at anyone here for the EMO comment. LMAO. I got a job finally at IGLOO. We make coolers. I'm a maintenance tech now. Big difference from being an electrical tech. But anyhow I regress. Finally got time to take it to a machine shop. They looked the cylinder over real good. They specialize in small engines like this. Found some galling in one of the cylinders. Told me to check the piston. Sure enough, there are scratches all over one side of the piston. They can repair this. Recommend that I replace the pistons also. They will machine the cylinder and get the kit for about $470. Not to bad. Will be kinda like new. The kit comes with all of the gaskets, pistons, rings, circlips, and some other things I'm not remembering. I have to pull the pistons and don't have the tool to do it. I've seen all over the www about how to use some all thread and sockets to remove them. I can get all thread from work. I should be able to do this with no problem if I can remove blow mold injection machine heads. But, if anyone wants to lend a hand I'm all for it.

good to hear you're back in business. are you working at the igloo plant off I-10 west of Katy? i drive by there on the way to Austin when i go, and always wanted to check out the factory store.

as for the piston pin puller, i think you can tap the pin out after you remove the circlip. check out the 96 xp restoration thread that has a lot of detailed pics from the rebuild job.

Yeah! After I wrote this I went out and got a 12mm deep socket and an extension and pushed the pins out. LOL. It was very easy. Yes I work at the Igloo factory in Katy. Only one in Texas. If you want to buy a cooler, let me know I can get them cheaper than Academy, Wal Mart and any other place that sells them. I won't tell you how much. It is just cheaper. I bought one today as a matter of fact. It is a 110 quart glide. Has wheel and a handle on the side that extends out. Very nice. Yukons are heavy. When they start putting wheels on them I may buy one but real heavy they are.

Cool, where do you ride, closest fresh water I know of is lake Houston, which is 45-1hr from where I live.

It hasn't been used in quite some time (ski). I'm trying to get it running so we can use it. When we did use it a lot it was mostly Galveston. I want to take it to a lake or something but time never comes as of late. Just need to get it running.
