Just went out and put in new fuel pumps. When we were running our filters were always near empty. When we'd stop and sit, they'd fill up on their own. Same deal with the new pumps. So just wondering if this is normal, or if it sounds like an air leak somewhere? Leaky needles/seats? Starts and runs fine on the hose. All the lines are new and tight, carbs cleaned but not rebuilt (yet). Thanks.

Its normal..

The level will make a difference if the pump is pushing the fuel or pulling the fuel to/from the filter.

You can lesson the air by placing the filter straight up and down. Gravity will get the air bubble to exit the upper nipple instead of get trapped in the angled filter..

You are good.
I would keep an eye on the see through plastic filters. My new pump install went slightly south about the 3rd time out. Seems as though the new fram g3 filters began collapsing internally and choking my fuel supply. Replace plastic filters with all metal filters. Haven't been out yet to test due to rain, but I do not for see any more problems.

Thanks guys. The pumps are after the filters, so pulling. I'll try and get the filters more vertical.

Jhjesse, I saw your post earlier. Crazy. Those high flow pumps must be awesome. I went oem because I'm lazy, and got a deal. I'll have to look for some metal filters.
