Sea doo has me confused . In a short I found a 2006 sportster with 215 hp at a good price (so I though) The first thing I did was a test drive and loved it ,next was to update the supercharger washers. I took the boat to a local guy that had 10 years with sea doo, and the computer program . the boat had 42.75 hours on it 40% were at, or below 2k rpm (I think the first owner left the key on ) A cream puff, like new as per the man with the tools. I had him rebuild the super charger to prevent any pos problems in the future After a 5 hour drive to lake for a week vacation I was on the lake for 2 hours till, pop bang ***** The supercharger shaft let go. I think they call it grenade And No I will not bring it back to him .Because I like the boat ( I have owned 7 sea doo pwc in the last 6 years) I have found a very good mechanic (works on more then seadoo ) and am looking at another 6500 to do a total rebuild . One part I need is the timing drive cover. part. to try to save money and help the mechanic out he gave a list of 3 parts to shop 420812622 was the cover, sea doo sent me to fullertons in Canada they sent me the part as per the vin # on my boat , I gave this to my mechanic only to be told I got the rong part. the casting # on both parts (6812640) is the same . the old one has 2 cut outs at the top for wires.the new one has 1 cut out at the top and a 3/4 inch hole halfway down the side . Does anyone know if this can be used by machining the second hole at the top and blocking off the 3/4 inch hole on the side or did I just waist another 650.

Unfortunately seadoo came out with two editions of the Sportster SCIC in 2006, and the use different parts :(

It appears you have the edition 1 engine with the crank shaft sensor located inside the PTO cover, part numer is 420811579

The PTO cover you have purchased is for the edition 2 engine, part number 420812622, this one has the crank sensor mounted externally, hence the hole on the side and only one hole for the stator wires.

You could seal the hole with a suitable plug but I don't think there would be any mounting point for the crank sensor.
