I have been looking at getting a project seadoo for over winter and i found a GTX that needs a new engine from a lady whose husband passed away three years ago and has no clue about the ski at all. I got pictures from her and it appears to be in good shape except for some scrapes in the gel coat from what appears to be dock damage. One of the pictures she sent me i noticed that the hull id number tag is missing so i asked for a picture of the right rear side to see if the sticker was there and to my dismay it isnt. She claims it is a 97 but the colors are wrong for a 97 and it is rfi so it is either a 98 or 99 and am leaning towards 99 since it looks like it has tilt steering and has only an lcd guage and an analog speedo where 98 i believe has three guages. She doesnt know where the title is but the dmv says if they take the death certificate in along with the buyer they will transfer it and retitle it in my name. My question is if there is any more locations where the HIN would be located and if i am just asking for problems down the road if it is not there? One down fall is she is 300 miles away thats why i have been asking for pictures of various parts of the ski to be sure i dont waste my time. She did have another ski for sale too a 96 xp but that sold yesterday so i assume that the titles are not a problem but i just wanted to see what people here would do in this situation.

Thank for any advice/ and help in advanced.

EDIT: She did send me the id number off of the registration

I think I saw that ski in the PDX CL. It didn't look like a great deal. The title problems make it look like less of a good deal. I bought a 98 gtx limited with blown motor for 500. They are out there, just takes time to find them.
