Questions about aesthetic details 96 XP.

Hi everyone, i recently bought a XP from 1996 (last week), the engine it's ok but it has some aesthetic problems.
I want to get back the color of this part, i tried everything, someone did it? (sorry for my english i from argentina)

Thats a 93 XP and I usually replace the grab bar with a black plastic one. The 96 XP is all yellow and has a much bigger engine.

I’ve been messing around with this 95 XP, it seemed like there was a strong fuel smell when I took the seat off. It has clear fuel lines held on with zip ties. I bought a back to OEM carb rebuild kit from OSD marine thinking that the seats where leaking causing the fuel smell? I took the carbs off today and took the cover off the metering side so I could do a pop off test. I tested the diaphragm first by pressurizing with 10 pounds in the inlet nipple and it held on both carbs, also put 4 pounds on the pulse nipple and that held as well. I cleaned this one up but it was t as bad as yours. You can see how I did it on page 3 of my 95XP thread. After the scotch brite use the Coleman’s in a micro fiber to smooth it out as your basically melting some of the material off with the Naptha

thanks you both, it's a lot of help,it's not to much info in spanish. I understand now that my xp is 93, maybe when someone brought it to Argentina registered it like 96. i will try with naptha .

Dam, That looks really good considering how grungy it was, Did you finish off with some back to black trim restorer? Or something similar, I always do after using Naptha or acetone to remove any traces of it and protect it.

Yes, its not perfect, but im happy whit the result, i used sand paper and naptha. What trim resstorer do you use? Do you use it after naptha?
