I took my Sea Doo GLI LE in to the local dealer because it would not start. He replaced the impeller, wear ring and an exhaust hose that was melted.

I took it to the river, ran it for about an hour. and it died and will not start.

I can't help but wonder if I spent $801.60 for nothing. Any comments? Anyone know why it won't start?

Gti........

Not without posting the year. But I can say that for the price, you probably didnt' get your monies worth.

I'm a great pesimissit about shops...........they find something they see broke and just replace it, not actually looking into the reasons you brought it in for. Although, the water regulator can cause damage to an engine if not working properly, the impeller had nothing to do with the problem

You really don't post enough info to make a good conclusion, it still seems to me, you might not have been served well.

I have to agree

I have to agree with you. The man even told me that he recommended replacing it just because it was the only way he could ensure that it wouldn't cause thousands of dollars of damage down the road.

As for my REAL problem, I don't know what else to say. It wouldn't start yesterday. I went down this morning and it cranked right up. I turned it off and 15 minutes later, I went down to the dock and tried to start it and it wouldn't crank. It tries to crank but will not fire. When I pull the seats off exhaust fumes are just hanging in the engine compartment. I don't know if that is normal or not, but my gut feeling is no.

I just don't know why I could drive it for over an hour yesterday with no problems and then it just quit and won't start. I checked all the fuses. It has a fuel injection system, so it isn't flooded. Has plenty of gas and oil. I never got any maintenance warnings on the dash, and I get the two chirps when I connect the lanyard.

Make sure your battery is completly charged. Next time you take it to a dealer have only the problem repaired. State in the work order the problem and that is the only thing that you would like repaired. I know that you can have other problem but you need to make clear that the problem that you are bringing in for needs to be corrected and that you expect at the very least that this main issue is taken care of. You may not mind spending a litle more money on other things that they may think need to be repaired but the first thing that has to be repaired and warrented is the problem that you have. Make sure that the problem is stated on your copy of the work order. You can allways bring it back for any other problems that they may think need to be adressed. and then you would allso have some sort of idea of there compatence in their work and there ability of making the customer happy.
