i have a 1996 mercury sport jet 120xr motor that has a broken crankshaft (bought it that way) the motor has a ton of new parts on it installed by the previous owner, stator, starter, trigger, coils, rev limiter, volt regulator and the questionable part to me is a brand new flywheel. it has part #261-859236c which when i look it up goes to a 2003 mercury 125hp outboard. is that the right flywheel for this motor? it fits on the crank end nicely. is that the right amount of teeth? too little ? too many? i believe i counted 97 teeth. could that have been the cause of the broken crankshaft? i just bought another crankshaft and dont wnat the same thing happening again cause these cranks are hard to find used and id hate like hell to spend $800.00 on a new one from mercury.
thanks for any help in advance
