Well it is the middle of winter and I am already starting to itch for time on the water. The sun happened to peak out a little today in Central IL so i decided it is time to start searching for boat toys. I was interested in buying a floating dock for my 97 speedster but can't seem to find any forum postings anywhere that aren't mroe than a year old.

Was wondering if anyone here uses a drive on dock for their boat, what kind it is, and if they are happy with it? I keep looking for a used one so I won't have to pay out the nose for it bt can't seem to find any out there.

If anyone has any opinions on a drive on dock or happens to know of any sources that are fairly priced let me know.

Dock

I purchased two years ago a new EZ Dock for my 2000 14.5 Sportster used it for one summer. I am on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. It worked well, only have one problem. The tide changed more than 6 ft and the poles I used were not long enough. I did not expect a major storm to hit. So as the tide went out the poles wedged at the top causing the dock to hang in the air at one end. No problem with the boat or dock just a bitch to get the boat off at that time. So make should your poles are long enough to handle tide. I used it one year while my new pier use being built. I still have the dock if interested in purchasing it very cheap. The cost to ship could be high. Max boat length 18ft - Max weight 1800 lbs.

Might be interested in the dock

You don't have to abbreviate your email address. If you'd like to post it in the forum, its up to you.

I see you guys are talking about floating docks. Here's a link to one I've been looking to build. It seems relatively easy and inexpensive. I've been pricing the wood for it from Lowes but I still haven't got all the cost sorted out.

I live on the river and have an old sail boat I dock the ski and boat against so I dont' scratch them against the bulkhead with the rise and fall of the tide. I have been looking for a way to attach a float on the back of the sailboat so I can run the ski up on it and leave it on the water for longer periods of time.

Anyway, if anyone would like to check out the dock I'm looking at and the instructions on how to build it, check it out here!. Anyone got any good links to any other floating docks, throw them at us.

I'm not to intersted in those plastic looking kinds that you can drive up on or the modular ones. But, if your looking, let me know. I got some links for them too.

I"ve been looking to build a floating dock now for a couple years so I'll bookmark this thread to see what ya'll come up with..........
