PWC Sand Anchor

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this...has anyone used the Kwik-Tek Sand Anchor System (bag that you fill with sand - has rope, flowting buoy and clip) GOOGLE for pic?

Wondering if they work as good as they look like they might!? We will be using on a lake...so no current / tide issues to deal with. Just want something to keep the pwc from floating off or beaching. Nice thing about this appears to be that you fill it with sand once you get to the lake, and empty when you leave...so no bulky anchor to deal with when not in use.

I know some use the sand screw anchors...just wondering if these are any good.

I actually use them but fill them with some pretty good size rocks. Sand gets messy and washes out of the bag. They work exactly as they are supposed to. Just keep the rope away from your jet pump when you launch. Good luck

They work... and as above... rocks are better.

But, why not beach the ski?

Dr Honda what is the proper way to beach a jet ski i ride on the coloado river and there are lots of sand bars.

Just kill the engine before hitting the sand/gravel, so you don't suck junk into the pump, and cooling system.

I grew up in SoCal... and we use to camp out on the river all the time. We would go to "Big Bend"... or I had a buddy who's folks had a trailer in Parker... and we would just launch into the lake from the AZ side. Good times.

So it doesn't matter if its nosed in or backwards? Ya I have been going thru Yuma to Lake Martinez next to Yuma Proving ground. Nice but i got a chance to put the ski's in San Diego (ocean) that was just so much water and room but I didn't like the salt.

Shoreline is not sand. With years of flooding around here...the shorelines of most lakes are lined with rip-rap (jagged boulders) to prevent future erosion. Not the most ideal thing to "beach" a ski.

Ummmm. well...... that would be a good reason to not beach it.

The only other option is to just ride from the time you launch until its put back on the trailer.

Ya those bags work great I use them. There is only one good area at my lake for beaching them if its already taken I use the bags with rocks. Saves the bottom of the hull from getting scratched up..

Follow-up...bought one, filled it full of "gravel", worked great until I pulled it out of the water to empty and realized that the seam had torn and the gravel was spilling from it! 5hrs of use and it already failed.

I took it to a friend who is a seamstress and has heavy-duty sewing machines. She turned it inside out, ran a few sewn hems on it and it is MUCH stronger. Come to find out they aren't even sewn to begin with rather heat-seamed edges (poor at best).

Last weekend it worked PERFECTLY after some reinforcing. Would still recommend...just beware of potential seam failure.

We just use the cork screw dog anchors.
