PWC land or dock lift

Has anyone built there own dock lift of land dock. I can't afford these plastic or electric dock lifts, just wondering if anyone has pics of there own they may built. My work has a machine shop so I was thinking maybe if i had a creative idea my machinist could build something out of metal.

i got this lift for $450 off my local craigslist. all i had to do is recover the bunks. i am sure you cane make something that would work.
