Pump oil change

I put very few hours on my sea doo GTX RFI (787 RFI)

My 2002 has only 90 hours on it!

I have felt like changing the pump oil in the little cap on back is overkill every year.

What I have been doing is merely checking the level and changing about every 2 years or so.

Should I be concerned?

Alternatively is there a way for me to drain (or suction out) the old oil from the add hole? I hate to break the seal and pressure test for such low annual usage.

Thanks

Jim

pump oil should be changed every year, the integraty of the oil breaks down due to use, just like motor oil has to be changed, it will be alot more easy if you just change the oil then to buy and install new bearings into it, suck the oil out of it....no because you will not get it all out, there is only 3 bolts and will take you less time to pull the bolts then try to pump it out, and this way you will get all the oil out of it. But thats just my 2 cents, seadoo service states pump oil every year

you can pop the cone off this time, but then, tap a hole at bottom, and use same type of "allen set screw", for chang'n the oil..?

It should be fine to take it off, and when you install it on again put it on with the hole facing down. There is an o ring on the cone.

Thanks to You guys answering.

It still seems to be overkill to change after 10-20 hours.

The stuff sitting in the cone cannot break down much more than the stuff sitting in the bottle a few feet away.

Oh well I will change it anyway.

Would any good all synthetic lube like mercury high performance gear lube work OK or is the little bottle the one?
