Pump Bearings 96 XP

I had my pump bearings replaced by a machine shop and the pump shaft does not spin freely. It turns with no problem by hand. Is the shaft supposed to spin or should it be slightly tight?

The shaft should spim freely but not have any play left to right or up and down. It should be a perfect fit. If you have drag on the shaft then the bearings were not installed properly or damaged when installed.(nicked up or bent)

With my 2000 seadoo xp I can grab the shaft and move it up and down... what do i do to replace this problem?

cpope...sounds like the splines are gone on the driveshaft. Need new shaft, and possibly a driveshaft coupler#272000158..

depends what you mean by up and down. up and down when the pump is mounted in the hull? or up and down when pump is standing on end on a bench. that is fore-aft play and is normal.
