I'm confused! My old bilge pump died so I put a new one in today and I had to change both 3 amp fuses(manual and auto). The manual switch works fine with the bilge, but when I switched out the blown fuse on the auto bilge side the bilge comes on and stays on even without any water in the bilge. The float in the pump works fine. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Could it be that I have the 2 power wires switched? The bilge pump doesn't come on with the switch until there is enough water in the bilge to kick it on.

It does sound like you have the power wires switched. You can easily check this with a multi-meter or test light. One of the wires will have a constant feed from the battery, and the other will operated on/off from the switch.
