Help! I thought the carbs were not working but then realized the rotary valve wasn't turning. I took off the rv cover to find that the rv is not moving at all when turning the engine by hand. And neither is the shaft it rides on.

That things supposed to spin with the motor right? Why wouldn't te shaft be turning?

95 xp 717 if it makes a diff.

RV gears are dead. Was it converted to Pre-mix... and the oil tank was removed?

Normally the only time that the gears get messed up is if they get run dry... or a bolt falls into the RV while the engine is running.

No it wasnt converted. I was going to but realized it's got a good setup.

Anyways rv gear is toast. Havent pulled it yet but I've got brass shavings.

Can I pull it before splitting cases to check the shaft for damage? I'm splitting cases anyways I just want to order the parts today and can't get the flywheels off until tomorrow.

Also it seems like it might have happened due to tight tolerances in the rv cover. What all should I replace while I'm in there? Everything looks good as far as I can tell but compression is at 120. Should I be ok getting a gasket/seal kit w/rings and honing the cylinders? They still have crosshatching but some vertical scoring. Not deep but enough to see.

One last thing he said he ran it for up to 30 seconds on staring fluid. Where should I check for damage?

Ok I've got a parts list does it look ok?

Top end kit w/pistons
Rotary shaft assembly
Lower gaskets & crank seals
machining done on the cylinders and rv cover
And maybe a timing wheel. I might try the template deal if it works good.

What am I missing? Also where should I get the parts? not looking for cheap quality but I'm not trying to spend a whole lot either.
Thanks for the help.
