i have a 1992 seadoo gtx. heres the problem. the battery is having issues charging, so i opened the electrical box to check for fuses, and sure enough the 15 amp fuse to the charging system was blown. i replaced it, and plugged the battery back in, and imediatly it blew again!! i tried putting a higher amp fuse in (30 amp) just to see if it would blow too, and it didnt, but as soon as i connected the battery the magneto/stator coil made a sparking noise, and stared smoking. the mpem is in good condition to my knoledgement, and now i dont know if the issue is the stator coil that needs to be replaced. please anyone who knows anything about these, i could use some help.

unplug stator and put a new fuse in, see then what happens, sounds like a bad stator though, sometines 1 wire just grounds out, or metal particles all over it, (from starter and flywheel teeth meshing), but, unless you are superman (xray vision) you gonna have to take it apart

ok ill give that a try. by the way, if i need to take the flywheel off and get to the stator, what do i need to do to get it off. do i need special tools

You can also get loaner tools for your local auto store. I used a generic flywheel puller from Advance Auto parts. Paid the full $100 for the kit, but returned it later that day for a full refund. They keep many different specialty tools around just for that purpose.

NEVER NEVER NEVER replace a fuse with a higher rated fuse. The reason it blows is to tell you something is wrong and protect not only the component on the circuit but other components too. When you do that the short ruins the component it's suppose to protect and can cause other parts to fail too.
