OK, so this thing is BEAUTIFUL, i've always wanted one of these and managed to find one with 14 hours (no kidding), everything is in near perfect shape.

There are a few concerns that i have.

1) it has the ski tower, and i cannot find a "top" for it (it's missing the shade top)
2) it's only 14 hours, it's had "maintenance" but I'm pretty sure that means he had the oil changed every year, i doubt any updates were done.

Besides a link to where i can buy the sun shade part to my ski tower, what shoudl i be looking to do to this thing. Obviously getting an oil change right away (last time was last season) i know i shoudl be worried about the ceramic washers on the SC, but I'm not sure if I can play all season this year and then rebuild during the winter, or if i shoudl be very scared and rip this nearly new thing apart to protect my investment.

Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom :)

Like grandpa said, "You have to exercise the gaskets!" Fourteen hours is super low, congrats. However, when something is not run very often, things can dry out. First and foremost, have the SC services and the washer replaced. That thing breaking apart can definitely cost you the price of a new engine. Second, drain gas and replace. Then, standard maintenance... Oil and filter change, new battery (maybe), new plugs, pull pumps, grease bearings and possibly replace dried out seals. Test all equipment, bilge, nav lights then stay close to shore the first time out.

+1

I'm a firm believer in running my toys on a regular basis for that very reason.

Go to SeadooWarehouse.com for parts. The Bimini Top assy. is part number 204072650 and lists for $723. Ouch. Looks like the Bimini frame is not available separately. I suggest you find someone nearby with a top and have it "back engineered" at a marine trim shop. The Bimini frame is just bent aluminum tubing and the mount brackets are still available. You might find a store called the Metal Supermarket nearby and buy the aluminum tubing and then have a machine shop bend it.

p.s. there is a Metal Supermarket in North Austin at: 9410 Reid Drive, Austin, TX, 78758
They might have the capability to bend it for you. In know they can custom cut and weld metal.

Yeah, i figured, same as a car, the hoses and such dry-rot if not used. Do you think i can get away with running this season on an oil change and checking all the rubber parts out, and doing the supercharger in "winter", or should i be too afraid of that supercharger and go ahead and pull it and send it away before it blows my stuff up?

Strangely, he used it every year (except this year). It was used as a "taxi" from the dock to his boat house, so he didn't use it much. He has a really nice jet boat that he's keeping, so i guess he used that more.

If it were me, I'd do the SC now along with the fluids and plugs. Why take a risk on what sounds like a really nice boat?

Post some pics once you get it.

Plugs were done near the end of last season, including all fluids (i dont trust oil that sat during a cold time, as it may have condensation).

Whats the turn around time on sending out the SC to get rebuilt, like door to door time?

So i go to pick it up tonight, and before i pay him i have him put it in the water and take us for a ride. Idles nice starts moving nice, started running like sh*t, shuts off. Engine spins over with the starter nicely, but doesn't start (almost sounds like we ran out of gas, but tank is full)... So he's taking it to get full maintenance done on it for me... Doubt they'll rebuild the SC while they have i, but getting an oil change, and everything done for free at least.

On a brighter note, he did find the Bimini top (never used) so I'm good there. He doesn't seem to have the key for the storage compartment locks, so i guess I'll have to order new lock cylinders, which i'm sure is cheaper. And he Doesn't have a spare ignition key, so I'll have to find that as well.

I sent mine off using the service through PWCMuscle and was fairly quick. Maybe a week total since it is shipped in the flat rate 2 day shipping box both ways.

Ok,,, If you never serviced the SC it may never fail... But,,, most do. It is a question of when, not if.

Out advice may come across as harsh, but it is meant to stress the importance of getting the SC rebuilt.

It would be morally wrong for any of us to say, "it's ok, go ahead and operate it...:

It's not harsh at all, i know those ceramic washers are junk, i wouldn't have even asked the question if it had over 50 or so hours on it. But not being sure if they tend to blow after a certain amount of wear or if they are simply a ticking time bomb that can go off any second caused me to ask :)

is there a guide somewhere on how to remove it so i can send it out with the 50$ expedited service?

Here is a video of us uninstalling a SC from an 04 RXP.. while a little different the SC connects the same way.

I have an 09 RXT-X 255. When I removed my SC the only component I removed was the coolant tank. I was able to leave all the other stuff in place. I never loosened or removed my exhaust. It would have been easier if the exhaust was not in the way, but loosening and moving the exhaust is a battle on its own.. So I simply choose not to touch it.

So, since I'll be pulling the SC soon, what are the other "mods" that i shoudl do while I'm doing things. I always like performance, but thats not the main goal in this question, essentially, I'm looking for a list of the "standard mods" especially for reliability (or performance that doesn't sacrifice reliability). If it helps, I'll be using this boat for mostly tubing, and learning wake-boarding and/or water-skiing, as well as as jsut goign out to the lake and swimming around.

so far i have seen that there is a shut-off valve that i probably should install in case i need the boat to be towed:
http://www.seadooforum.com/showthre...where-I-mounted-exhaust-cooling-cut-off-valve

I DEFINITELY want to add Hydro-Turf (I'm thinking trying to match the grey thats in my seats since the swim platform is black and the floor is white, it'll contrast everywhere (but looking for opinions)
http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?20746-Hydro-Turf-15-off!

I was reading that there is an SC upgrade along with injectors that add a noticeably increase in performance, and then returning my SC woudl get me a core credit. I know nothing about price here, but if it's reasonable, this might be a great option for me to "upgrade" and not have to have the boat down while waiting for the SC to get completed and sent back.

Looking forward to your advice on this, as i really appreciate the advice so far, the people here are very helpful.

So, there are really 2 options to upgrade your supercharger, you can replace it or upgrade the wheel inside of your existing supercharger adding a spacer to help create the extra boost.

You can purchase the Sea-Doo X-Charger and 42LB Injector Combo which is $1,199.99 and is a completely new supercharger.

Or you can add a wheel and spacer like this one Engine Tech Sea-Doo 215 ET 127 X 3mm CR Billet Wheel 3mm Spacer 12.5lb (our best seller at $349.99) as well as the injectors: Pro Series Injector Kit 42lb (Bosch) for $239.99. You will also need the rebuild if you go this route as all of your internals will be new. With the housing being the only exception, this will replace all parts of the supercharger with new components. Total for this with rebuild is $1024,98 saving you about $175 over grabbing a new SC.

The et127 wheel will actually produce a little more boost than the xcharger. Hope this helps!

Alpha_Dog We would give you a credit for your current supercharger. Just depends on what shape the components are in. A stock 215 SC is about 1000 right now as well.
