I bought a 98 sportster back in April of this year. The boat runs great and I just got back from a weekend of fun at Lake of the Ozarks. The boat is quick already but I was curious if there is any aftermarket support for these boats? Obviously rebuilding the engine with bigger bore and pistons is a option but I will tackle that when these engines go. In the mean time is there anything else I can do to squeeze out power?

Also I bought oil from seadoo last week and it is crazy expensive. The previous owner ran low ash castrol that the manual reccomends. However I could not find it anywhere? Is there another type of oil anyone uses that is cheaper than seadoo?

The only performance options that I would do is an aftermarket impeller and a performance intake grate. Anything you do to the engine will effect reliability. I've always had the opinion it you want a faster boat, buy a faster boat, like a two engine speedster.

As far as the oil goes you need an API-TC synthetic blend or mineral oil. You can save some money by getting Quicksilver PWC oil from Walmart Superstores, it's in the silver bottle. Honestly it's only about 5-6 dollars a gallon cheaper than SeaDoo XPS.

I found the impellers. I could not find the intake grate? What is a good website to find it parts for these boats? Seems there is not alot of info on my model boat.
