I purchased a 1997 XP last November with a blow motor. I have been reading on this site since then and the information has been very helpful. I was planing on rebuilding it myself but it was not cost effective so I had it done by East Coast Cycle and got a 1 year warranty with it. It had a WestCoast Racing Performance Flame Arrestor on it when I bought it.
After all of the reading I have done here I have replaced the grey fuel lines with reg black ones from NAPA. I built a pressure tester and tested the carbs. The MAG carb failed the leak test and would not hold the 10psi. The PTO carb was OK and had a pop off pressure of 36psi. When I took the carbs apart to clean them they seamed very clean and the internal fuel filter looked new on both(bright white). The Main jet on the MAG carb was 142.5 and on the PTO was 147.5. Both Pilot jets were 65. They both have a 1.5 needle and seat.
Questions
1. Based on these specs would this performance flame arrestor be providing to much air? Should I just look to get an original one?
2. How do you tell what type (weight) of spring you have for the needle valve?
3. Can you buy just a single replacement needle valve and seat?
Thanks
