Painting seadoo seat

Anybody try painting the seat on their seadoo? I painted the hood and handlebar cover on my seadoo just to freshen the faded color and I want to paint match the seat. I've seen people use the vinyl paint, but that doesn't match everything else I have. Anybody use regular spray paint? Have you run into any problems with it? I will be painting mine and showing the progress and effects of it.

I have sprayed vinyl before...on an older boat interior. It didn't last and I can only imagine the wear of rubbing up against it while riding would rub it off and possibly stain your shorts.. I just painted my hood and handlebar cover as well. I'll be posting pictures in a bit. Check it out and if you can, post yours on my thread. Good luck.

LOL, rubbing and staining your shorts in one sentence. I won't comment more than that. Keep it Classy San Diego.

I looked into this some more, since I already painted a spot on the seat (doing a resto on an sp) and I found the spray vinyl clear coat, has anyone tried that? I'm hoping it would seal in the paint some more

Also as a cheap alternative I have used the DIY Seats from ebay. It is just a cut piece of flat vinyl but the quality is good and it is pretty stretchy. I used it on a SP flip a few years ago and with some time and patience it turned out great.

Just did 2 seats with the eBay stuff. Cost me $55-60 shipped and came with stainless staples. Just make sure to read the description and get the “multi stretch” material. Some vinyl only stretches one way (either top to bottom or side to side) unless you get multi stretch. Take your time cause it’s a pain but worth it in the end. A second set of hands will help a ton. Good luck

I had someone just put some new vinyl over the old one last year and the result was great. I believe any vinyl paint will crack since each time you sit on it will put some stress on it.

Benji.
