The weed was really bad yesterday. Went through the no wake, water was chilly so I didn't jump into the water to pull the weed.
First trip was good. The second trip the overheat alarm went off just after we left the dock.
Paddled back, pulled the boat out, the weed was jammed in the water intake, very tight...

Thankfully the temperature sensor was working.

I would think this type of weed situation is normal?

An idling seadoo might suck yer socks off if yer standing in knee deep aqua. Ha Ha Its no veg-a-matic.

Well. Now it becomes a standard procedure to clean the weeds if I see them at no wake.

Reverse is your friend,,, If I run through a weedy area at slow speeds, when I can I put it in reverse and give it some nice high RPMs. This seems to clear the impeller area for me..

We have to call BS on this one! Sooooooooooooo....sorry,.....CoastieJoe Propulsion is not "reversed" back thru the grate.

I didn't say it was. It causes the water to circle back under the ski as well as suck air into the area. Then the impeller pulls it through the grate and almost always clear debris and weeds.

Show me where I stated that the water was reversed and I'll buy you a lunch,,

Hey Coastiejoe, I think water pushing back under the hull makes sense. It changes the water flow pattern and may loose the weed stuck there and shoot out through the pump. Otherwise the weed just keep accumulating all the way through the no wake area.
Take it easy brother, people are always in their mood pattern. Why change your life following others mood pattern. If you have been enjoying the forum, keep the good mood going :)
Thanks again.

Along with the water flow being changed there is no forward motion of the ski:boat. This allows the debris to "free up" much easier than being pinched or held in place.

But hey,, What do I know. Bills86e has the answers, let's check with him.
