one beep when start button is pushed, nothing else

Hi,

I have a 97 GTS. I just replaced both positive and negative battery cables. AT first I got two short beeps and the starter turned over. I thought GREAT, I'm ready to go. Then, I tried it again and got nothing, except when I push the start button I get one short beep and nothing else. The battery is fully charged.

Any insight would be very much appreciated.

Did ya pull the key off & reinstall it (then retry start)?
If you dont get the 2 beeps after reinstalling the key-you will get 1 beep when trying to restart.

Update: I hit the start button, one beep and nothing. I detached the lanyard, hit the start button, then attached the lanyard...2 short beeps. I hit start and it started right up. Am I resetting something when I hit the start button without the lanyard attached?

No. It's trying to tell you that the lanyard is not attached or that the computor has turned off because of inactivity. :cheers:

Thanks, The lanyard is new, I'll try cleaning the hub maybe.

Some skis need to be woken up before they recognize there is a key. Some don't.

I have one that does and one that does not.

Mine is 1 of those that requires resetting after sitting when the key in for a while or key didn't connect good etc LoL.
