ok 96 gtx question

Hi yall i have a 96 gtx and have searched and searched for similar problems but no one quite has mine.
i pressed the start stop button five times the display comes up ant tells me everything, but as soon as i connect the lan yard everything goes out and it will not start
i have a new battery and have checked and cleaned conn and grounds....
any help or advice would be great
i have just recived the wiring schem so will go over it in the am.

You can download the manual or if ya have one look in the electrical section and do an ohms test to the dess post. Its pretty simple. I just went thru a nightmare of electrical issues and had to test everything that had a wire. Just have to start ruling out everything one at a time but I would start there.

I would start with the large ground cable, think of it in automotive terms, you get in your car and put the key in, the dome light comes on and all the dash lights light up, when you turn the key to start the car everything goes out because of a bad connection at the battery terminal, you clean the terminals tighten them and off you go, the same thing happens on these skis the difference is you replace the whole ground cable.

If you have a set of jumper cables this is easy enough to check, put one end on the negative terminal of the battery, ground the other end to the engine, see if the problem goes away, if it does the ground cable is toast.

96 and 97 GTX'S are notorious for having this issue.
